Tickets information

Online tickets are cheaper than at the ticket office.

Types of tickets:

  • Standard: visitors aged 15–64
  • Discounted: children aged 3–14, students up to 26 with a valid ID, PWD, PWD/RC, and seniors 65+
  • Family 2+2: 2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children
  • Family 2+3: 2 adults and 3 children
  • Children under 2 years – free
  • PWD/RC – assistant free of charge
  • When purchasing a discounted, PWD, or PWD/RC ticket, it is necessary to present a valid photo ID to the staff.
  • Tickets can be purchased online, or in cash or by card at the ticket office.
  • Benefit cards are not accepted.
  • The ticket is single-use.
  • The length of the visit is not limited within the opening hours, but re-entry is not allowed.
Opening hours
  • The light exhibition is open daily from November 13, 2025, to January 11, 2026.
  • On December 24 and December 31, the exhibition is closed.
  • The opening hours of the light park are from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
  • The last entry is at 9:30 PM.
How to get here?

Špilberk Castle is located right in the center of Brno and is accessible from all directions. From Česká Street, take trolleybus no. 35 or 39, bus x4 to the Tvrdého stop, or from the main train station take tram no. 5 or 12 to the Šilingrovo náměstí stop.

Parking

For parking, we recommend using the DOMINI PARK parking garage, Husova 712/14a. Alternatively, you can use the Besední parking lot at Ludvík Kundera Square, the Husova parking lot, or the Covered Parking Velký Špalíček, Dominikánská 352/1. The parking lots are a 7–10 minute walk from the castle.

Dogs welcome

Dogs are welcome here. Even if your four-legged friend is well-behaved, for the comfort of other visitors it is necessary to keep your dog on a leash with a muzzle. And don’t forget the waste bags!

Photography is allowed

Photography or video recording within the Story of Lights exhibition is allowed free of charge and without restrictions. On the contrary, we would be happy if you tag us on social media #storyoflights @storyoflightscesko.

We will be happy to share your creations on our profiles. Flying drones is prohibited!

Refreshments on site

In the light exhibition area, you will find many places to have a snack or meal. A bistro, a castle restaurant, and stands with drinks or hot dogs are waiting for you.

Barriers

As this is an original medieval castle, the premises are unfortunately not accessible. Please be aware that stairs are required.

Restrooms

The premises include two fully equipped restrooms with changing tables for small children.

No drones or scooters allowed.

For safety reasons, it is prohibited to fly drones or use electric scooters within the exhibition area.

Visitor Regulations of the Premises

By entering the premises, visitors agree to these regulations and are obliged to comply with the following rules: Visitor and Operating Regulations, Terms and Conditions – Brno City Museum (muzeumbrna.cz).

Duties of Visitors to the Premises:

  • Access to the premises is permitted only through the main entrance. Tickets may be purchased on-site by cash or credit card, or via the official website of the event “Story of Lights.”
  • Entry to the premises is at your own risk.
  • Upon entering the premises, visitors must present an original ticket with a QR code. In the case of a discounted ticket, visitors are required to provide identification with a photograph (such as an ID card, driver’s license, passport, student card, ISIC, disability card PWD or PWD/RC, etc.). Visitors with a PWD/RC card are entitled to a reduced admission fee, while their accompanying person is admitted free of charge.
  • Visitors are required to behave respectfully towards others, to refrain from damaging or otherwise interfering with the lighting, installations, or property within the premises or that of other persons, and to maintain cleanliness and order.
  • Each visitor is obliged to comply with the visitor regulations, as well as with the instructions and orders of the organizer, security or safety personnel, firefighters, emergency service members, and similar authorities. In case of non-compliance, the organizer reserves the right to immediately remove undisciplined visitors from the park without compensation.
  • Parents are responsible for the behavior and safety of their children upon entering the premises and throughout the entire visit.
  • Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, or teacher) throughout the entire visit to the park. Parents or accompanying adults or teachers are responsible for children and minors during the entire visit, even in cases where children over the age of 15 remain in the park unaccompanied.
  • Children’s groups must be accompanied by at least one adult supervisor for every 10 children in the group.
  • Dogs are permitted to enter the park free of charge but must be kept on a leash and muzzled under the supervision of their owner. Free roaming of animals is prohibited. Owners are required to clean up after their pets.
  • In the event of an evacuation, visitors are required to follow the instructions of the organizer.
  • In the event of icy conditions, please exercise increased caution. Be aware of the potential risk of falling snow and ice from roofs, installations, or trees within the premises.

Prohibitions:

Upon entry, visitors may be subject to a security check.

It is prohibited to bring into the premises:

  • Weapons of any kind, sharp objects, weapon replicas, as well as items that could be used as weapons (including children’s toys).
  • Alcohol, drugs, or other toxic substances.
  • Outside beverages and food.
  • Fireworks and other pyrotechnics, including firecrackers, snap pops, petards, and similar items.
  • Glass and pressurized containers. Bringing weapons of any kind, as well as items that could be used as weapons, into the premises is strictly prohibited.

It is further strictly prohibited:

  • Flying drones or using electric scooters.
  • Entering areas that are not designated for visitors.
  • Climbing trees or touching and otherwise tampering with the light installations.
  • Damaging or destroying any facilities or equipment within the premises, including defacing items by writing, pasting stickers, or spraying paint.
  • Entering attractions under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating substances.
  • Consuming intoxicating substances in any area of the park.
  • using open fire
  • Discarding litter and cigarette butts outside designated areas.
  • Intentionally damaging or tampering with safety or fire protection equipment, as well as water or electrical installations.

Tickets with QR codes:

  • Each visitor will receive a ticket with a unique QR code, which entitles them to enter the premises during official opening hours, with the option to leave at any time. The ticket is valid for single use only.
  • In the case of an invalid QR code, the visitor will not be granted entry to the premises.
  • Ticket forgery is a criminal offense.
  • Paid admission and service fees are non-refundable, and tickets are non-exchangeable.
  • The ticket holder consents to photographs, films, or video recordings taken within the park that include their likeness being used by the organizer for documentary and promotional purposes without financial compensation.

Liability for damages and consequences of violating the visitor regulations:

  • In the event of a violation of the visitor regulations, the operator may seek compensation for damages caused by the visitor in accordance with applicable legal provisions, including lost profits (e.g., cancellation of the event), or may impose a fine.
  • If visitors to the premises are under the influence of alcohol, they assume full responsibility for any injuries incurred.
  • In the event of a serious violation of the visitor regulations, the organizer reserves the right to request the visitor to leave the premises.
  • The participant is obliged, upon request of the organizer or an authorized person (particularly security staff), to allow an inspection to verify compliance with the visitor regulations.
  • In the event of a violation of the visitor regulations, the organizer or authorized personnel are entitled to immediately expel the visitor from the premises without compensation. The visitor is obliged to leave the premises upon request of the organizer or an authorized person.

The operator’s right to close the exhibition in the event of adverse weather conditions:

  • In the event of adverse weather conditions, such as strong winds, heavy rain, snowstorms, hail, or similar circumstances that could pose a risk of injury to visitors, the operator reserves the right to temporarily close the exhibition for safety reasons.
