This unique exhibition, created in cooperation with leading Czech astronomers, will guide you through the mysteries of the universe – from the planets of the solar system to black holes and constellations. Light Park Ostrava – The Universe in the Heart of Dolní Vítkovice

A unique blend of raw industrial architecture and a magical light show.
The Dolní Vítkovice area in Ostrava, one of the most fascinating places in Europe, will transform into a cosmic spectacle where technical history meets the infinite universe. You will experience massive light installations inspired by galaxies, planets, and the mysteries of space. Against the backdrop of monumental blast furnaces and industrial halls, illuminated planets, star constellations, and cosmic gateways to the unknown will shine. Discover the light that tells the story of the universe.

Giant planets made of thousands of lights

Walk among the illuminated planets of the solar system, reaching up to 5 meters in diameter, and admire the stunning starry sky created by thousands of lights. See Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, and other planets in giant dimensions that will captivate you with their glow.

Interactive rockets, saucers, spaceships

Children and adults alike will enjoy the interactive elements of the exhibition, where they can play, learn, and explore. The biggest attraction for kids will be the illuminated space shuttle with a slide, offering not only plenty of fun but also the chance to become a little astronaut on their first space mission. Children can explore a flying saucer, open to all young cosmonauts, or discover cosmic secrets at Zvonka’s space playground, where spaceships and rockets of this magical character await.

Designed for children and adults

The “Universe” light exhibition is designed to captivate both children and adults. Young visitors will enjoy fun and interaction with the fairy-tale character Zvonka, who will guide them along a cosmic trail full of educational games and activities. Adults can look forward to views of cosmic phenomena and learn something new about the universe and how it works in an entertaining way.

Black hole, comets, meteors

Discover the mysterious black hole, watch the dazzling flight of comets, and experience what a falling meteor looks like. Take photos with our illuminated decorations, perfectly designed for social media. Share your experiences from the light show festival with friends and family!

Illuminated sun, observatory, space technologies

Explore the gigantic illuminated sun, visit the light observatory where you can imagine how astronomers study the infinite universe. You will also find illuminated satellites, space probes, and astronauts as part of the exhibition. Immerse yourself in the world of space exploration and discovery!

We live by lights

The Story of Lights exhibition is brought to you by the Czech family company DECOLED. For more than a quarter of a century, we have been decorating cities and towns in the Czech Republic and abroad with lights. We create themed light decorations for shopping centers, Christmas markets, and light parks. We design and produce Christmas lights and decorations. Simply put, we live Christmas all year round—and have been doing so for 27 years.

Tickets information

Online tickets are cheaper than at the ticket office.

Types of tickets:

  • Standard: visitors aged 15–64
  • Discounted: children aged 3–14, students up to 26 with a valid ID, PWD, PWD/RC, and seniors 65+
  • Family 2+2: 2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children
  • Family 2+3: 2 adults and 3 children
  • Children under 2 years – free
  • PWD/RC – assistant free of charge

 

  • When purchasing a discounted, PWD, or PWD/RC ticket, it is necessary to present a valid photo ID to the staff.
  • Tickets can be purchased online, or in cash or by card at the ticket office.
  • Benefit cards are not accepted.
  • The ticket is single-use.
  • The length of the visit is not limited within the opening hours, but re-entry is not allowed.
Opening hours
  • The light exhibition is open daily from November 1, 2025, to December 30, 2025.
  • On December 24 and December 31, the exhibition is closed.
  • The opening hours of the light park are from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • The last entry is at 8:30 PM.
How to get here?

You can reach the area by tram numbers 1, 2, 6, or 10 to the stop Dolní Vítkovice and Důl Hlubina. By bus number 88 to the Dolní Vítkovice stop. By car via Ruská Street.

Parking

Parking is available in designated areas on Ruská Street or at the Dolní Vítkovice Parking Lot accessible from Ruská Street.

Dogs welcome

Dogs are welcome. Even if your four-legged friend is well-behaved, for the comfort of other visitors it is necessary to keep your dog on a leash and with a muzzle. And don’t forget the waste bags!

Photography is allowed

Photography or video recording within the Story of Lights exhibition is allowed free of charge and without restrictions. On the contrary, we would be happy if you tag us on social media #storyoflights @storyoflightscesko.

We will be happy to share your creations on our profiles. Flying drones is prohibited!

Refreshments on site

In the light exhibition area, visitors can enjoy both cold and hot drinks.

Wheelchair accessible

The exhibition is wheelchair accessible. It is open to people with disabilities, wheelchair users, and families with strollers. However, please note that the industrial space often has uneven terrain. Wheelchair users are advised to have an assistant.

Restrooms

Mobile toilets are available on the premises, including wheelchair-accessible ones.
